Muuido Island (무의도) one day trip – Viaje de un día a la isla Muuido (무의도)

First of all, a national holiday is not a good day to travel to any place in Korea. Probably staying in Seoul is the smartest thing. Anyways, we decided to use that day and go somewhere close. The destination was: Muuido Island.

Mi principal consejo: no viajes en un día festivo nacional. Da igual a donde vayas, siempre habrá muchísima gente. Pero a veces, no queda más remedio que aprovechar esos días libres. Y así lo hicimos. Viajamos hasta la isla Muuido.

It’s easy to get there: subway to Incheon airport > bus 222 at the 3rd floor > ferry (just 5 min!) > bus to the beach. I know it doesn’t sound that good, but it is, trust me!

¿Cómo llegar? Fácil, aunque no lo parezca: metro hasta el aeropuerto de Incheon > tomar el autobús 222 en la tercera planta, fuera > ferry (rápidisimo, unos 5 minutos) > y una vez en la isla, otro autobús hasta la playa.

We went by car until to ferry terminal, left the car at one restaurant parking lot, take the ferry and then, in the island, we decided to cross it by walk to get to the famous Hanagae beach. It’s really easy to get to the beach, really. Just keep walking and walking.

En nuestro caso, decidimos ir hasta la terminal de ferry en coche, lo aparcamos en el aparcamiento de un restaurante que hay allí y, una vez en la isla, en vez de coger el autobús la cruzamos a pie hasta llegar a la playa Hanagae. Para llegar hasta la playa solo hay que caminar por la carretera, es imposible perderse.

Price: bus to the ferry terminal: same as the normal buses; ferry: 3000 won roundtrip; beach entrance: 2000 won.

Precios: autobús hasta la terminal de ferry: el mismo que cualquier otro autobús; ferry (ida-vuelta): 3000 wones: para entrar a la playa hay que pagar: 2000 wones.

There’re many things to do like ride in a horse, a zip-line, etc. You can buy a map and even rent a parasol. It’s possible as well to spend the night there at the small wood houses (there’s a camping site as well, with a noraebang!!!).

Hay varias actividades allí. Puedes tirarte por una tirolina, montar a caballo, etc. También es posible comprar esterillas y alquilar una sombrilla. Además, hay unas pequeñas casas de madera, quizá lo más típico de esa playa, en las que puedes alojarte por la noche (también hay un lugar para acampar ¡y tiene karaoke!).

Last thing, you need to walk a lot to get to the water until the sea is not low tide (or wait until 21:00). That’s why people usually stay until the next day.

Por último, la marea en esa playa es muy baja. Tienes que andar mucho para llegar hasta el agua. Sobre las 21:00 comienza a subir, es por eso que la gente suele quedarse una noche.

We finished the day at the seafood restaurant where we parked the car. We got yeonpotang and kalguksu (with clams). It’s quite a show seeing when the cook the octopus alive.

Nuestro día acabó en el restaurante donde dejamos el coche. Pedimos yeonpotang y kalguksu (con almejas), muy rico aunque fue un poco impactante ver como cocinaban el plato de pulpo (vivo).

Some tips:

– Don’t go on a holiday

– If you can, spend one night

– Walk through the island to get to the beach, it’s not that far and can be fun

– Try the restaurants, the food is so fresh and with a good price!

 

Consejos:

– No vayas en un día festivo, en serio

– Si puedes, pasa una noche en la playa

– Camina para llegar a la isla, así te ahorras esperar al autobús y nunca viene mal un poco de ejercicio

– Come marisco en los restaurantes, está muy rico y muy barato, algo difícil de encontrar en Seúl
